Regarding safety, McNetiq only uses permanent magnets  for the Controlock® anchor points, not electromagnets. Electromagnets are always dependent on an external power source to function properly, If this power source fails, or if a malfunction occurs in the connection, this could have catastrophic consequences in safety situations.

Permanent magnets always have power. They can be switched in 3 different ways:

  1. manual
  2. mechanical (switched magnets)
  3. with an energy pulse (electro-permanent magnets)

Electro permanent magnets are applied, for example, if a magnet is separated at some distance from the operator. Consider, for example, a crane operator who operates a magnetic pulley from a distance to lift steel objects.
